Acapulco's Lure

Acapulco, “the Pearl of the Mexican Pacific”, is one of the world’s legendary tourist destinations.  Acapulco is a tropical paradise set on the southwestern coast of México.  Only the French Rivera comes close to matching its glamour and fame.
Our international airport and superhighway to Mexico City have raised a boom in hotels, hip restaurants and new resort developments.  Everyone from Hollywood stars to royalty is drawn to this port’s palm-fringed beaches, fun-in-the-sun attractions and non-stop night life. The charms of this glittering port city are irresistible.  Once you get to know them, you’ll understand why.
The sapphire waters of Acapulco Bay are graced with everything from dolphins to cruise liners.  Two huge tropical lagoons – Tres Palos and Coyuca – lie on either side of the city, dense with mangroves and birdlife.  Fishermen harvest shrimp in these lagoons.  Over five decades, the diverse water sports, seaside activities and glamorous nightlife have sustained the fame of Acapulco.  The visible presence of Mexican law enforcement personnel ensures the safety and security of our tourist visitors.

Acapulco offers many advantages relative to other vacation resorts:  a year-round sunny climate, a delightfully-warm Ocean and the stunning Sierra Madre Mountains, which provide the backdrop for more than 20 beaches that line our crescent-shaped Bay. We invite you to discover the spectacular vistas, golden sands and mountain scenery that Acapulco has to offer.

What to do in Acapulco?

This fascinating modern port city still maintains its colorful traditions in music, dance, cuisine and public markets. The world-famous Cliff Divers of La Quebrada stage their breathtaking shows five times a day.  Handcrafted items from the remote villages of the state of Guerrero beckon shoppers, while exotic rituals are celebrated in our intriguing Mask Museum.

Visitors have access to a variety of fascinating activities, from the gleaming new resort developments of Acapulco Diamante, to the bustling activity of the Zócalo, the shady town square in the heart of Acapulco Tradicional, where the modern City first developed.
Its little-known Sea World includes whales often sighted in winter near the famous Roqueta Island, as well as Sailfish, Barracuda, Marlin, Mackerel and Pompano. Sea turtles come to Acapulco’s shores to lay their eggs and baby turtle release programs are carried out along the magnificent Revolcadero Beach, an unforgettable experience for both children and adults.

The port’s cosmopolitan flair draws world-class cultural and artistic festivals. The Acapulco Philharmonic delights classical music lovers each weekend, while the French Cine Festival and Aca Fashion show draw visitors from around the world.  With such diverse attractions, this eternally alluring city can satisfies every passion under the sun: deep sea fishing, water skiing, scuba diving, paragliding, windsurfing, jet-skiing, bungee jumping, speed-boat rides along River Papagayo and boat tours to nature preserves at nearby lagoons.
Thanks to our world-class golf courses and top-tier tennis courts, Acapulco has played host to World Cup events and numerous tournaments. While Acapulco is best known for being a jet-set paradise with round-the-clock entertainment, it is also rich in history, art and monuments that testify to the legacy of past centuries.  The interactive history museum in the Fort of San Diego contains bilingual explanations of Acapulco’s unique role in the spice trade dating from the 16th century.
